Hi, my name is Vera

A woman with curly brown hair sitting on an orange couch in a room with purple walls, a large green plant, and framed artwork. She is wearing a blue top and black skirt, with her legs crossed. A ginger cat is sitting on the floor near her.

I create colorful art where emotion and imagination come together in figurative surrealism. My favourite mediums are gouache, colored pencil and digital techniques.

My recent work is about finding space, in moments, in places, to grieve. They reflect stillness, searching, and the quiet kinds of comfort Iโ€™ve come to know. As I continue to navigate my inner world and the world around me, these illustrations have taken shape from that journey.

Just as my orange cat Abel, nature is also a theme I return to again and again in my art, especially the relationship between humans and nature. In moments of big emotion, like grief, nature can feel healing, grounding, even like home. At the same time, it offers a humbling perspective: reminding us that we are just a small part of something vast and interconnected.

This awareness shapes not only the themes of my work, but also the way I make it. My art should not contribute to the destruction of the very nature it draws inspiration from. Thatโ€™s why I print all my paintings on recycled paper or paper made from agricultural waste.
